Kazakhstan and Germany are set to enhance their economic partnership following talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
President Tokayev underscored Germany’s role as a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, emphasizing the significant progress made in their bilateral relations over the past 30 years. During his visit, Tokayev proposed the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to support joint projects and facilitate investment flow between the two countries.
Furthering economic cooperation, President Tokayev engaged with German business leaders to explore opportunities in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Discussion topics included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernization of railway infrastructure, and expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.
The talks also highlighted potential avenues for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan. This collaboration is anticipated to provide German businesses with greater access to the broader Central Asian market, fostering mutually beneficial economic growth.
